Feature

North is −Z.The sun does the rest.

The plot turns under the sky, and the sky is real: solar and lunar positions from Meeus low-precision series — about 0.01° on the sun. Pick a place, a date and an hour; the shadows are the ones the building would really cast on that plot, that day.

The easy explanation

Like a sun you can cross-examine.

Think of it as a real ephemeris wired to your plot. The sun and moon are placed by Meeus low-precision series — about 0.01° on the sun — for the place, date and hour you pick. Sun colour is keyed to elevation: white at noon, gold at 12°, orange on the horizon. Hemisphere light and fog follow the same curve.

  • The plot turns

North is −Z. Rotate the plot under the sky and watch the shadows swing — the sun stays honest.

  • Play the day

15, 45 or 120 seconds for a full day. Space starts it.

  • Real night

Moonlight scaled by the lit fraction of the disc; 1,400 stars fade in through civil twilight; a moon-phase billboard keeps the sky honest.

Everything the sky does, measured.

  • Sun-path study over the year — the arc your plot actually rides
  • Play the day in 15, 45 or 120 seconds — the whole day on demand
  • Real night: moonlight scaled by the lit fraction of the disc, 1,400 stars through civil twilight, moon-phase billboard
  • Compass that turns with the camera — sun and moon pips on it; click to face north
  • Exactly one shadow-casting light at a time — the sun or the moon, never both
  • 4096² PCF-soft shadow map fitted to the site — about 2 cm per texel over a 45 m radius
  • QA checks the physics: solstice noon against earth's tilt, equinox sunrise due east, equation-of-time extremes, polar day and night, lunation length
  • Warsaw, midsummer: first light 04:14, last light 21:01 — the clock agrees

"The sun stopped being a mood and became a fact."

— Meeus low-precision series, ~0.01°

Warsaw · 21 June · 04:14–21:01

The longest day, honestly lit.

Turn the plot, play the day, walk the garden at dusk. The moon brings its own light; the stars arrive on time.
