The plot is not a plane. Builder's terrain is a sculptable BVH heightmap: push the ground up for a bank, cut it down for a terrace, and paint surface types with splats where grass becomes gravel or paving. A horizon surround closes the world — meadow, woodland, moorland, coastal or alpine — with a treeline height you control. Roads and planting follow the ground you make.

Raise and lower the heightmap — it deforms smoothly around the house.
Splat lawn to gravel to paving, wherever the plan needs it.
Pick the surround beyond the plot and set the treeline height.
Sculpt the terrain is one of fifteen feature pages covering what ships in Builder today — every claim here maps to a shipped, verified feature. The list below is the concrete surface:
The ground is stored as a height field with a bounding-volume hierarchy over it, so sculpting deforms smoothly and the engine still finds the ground quickly — for shadows, planting and roads that hug the surface.
Yes — that is what the heightmap is for. Raise a bank behind the house, cut a level terrace in front, and paint the surfaces with splats. The horizon surround stays independent of your plot work.
They are terrain-hugging by construction: roads are laid by clicking points and they ride the surface, and planting sits on the sculpted ground. Sculpt first, then lay roads and plant.
